Fixations & Saccades
Gallery One + Two
Exhibition Info
Referencing our biological response to visual stimuli in the form of rapid eye movements (saccades) and the short stops our eyes make in between (fixations), Fixations & Saccades connects the work of six multidisciplinary artists whose process is grounded in abstraction. While exploring some of the same perceptual territory as Op Art, their work is not limited to generating optical effects; rather their purpose is to challenge and disrupt expectations of two- and three-dimensional mediums ranging from painting to print to sculpture. By juxtaposing similarities and differences between materials and processes the exhibition sets out to stimulate an experiential push-pull between divergent approaches to abstraction.
