The class of 2023 stands at the edge of an epoch: the ending of a distinct period in our lives and the beginning of a new one. Our exhibition, Epoch, is a reflection of what has brought us here, a celebration of what we have accomplished, and an introspection of what is to come. This epoch is coloured by excitement, trepidation, and curiosity.
Each member of our class has experienced deep evolution within ourselves, our creative practices, and in the world around us. Additionally, we have played integral roles within the University of Waterloo’s artistic, academic, professional, and social spheres. In preparation for this exhibition, these experiences and identities have been collected, inspected, and expressed through diverse ways of art making. Our departure from this time and place is significant. As our senior year comes to an end, we embrace the vulnerability of letting go while walking into the unknown together.
Epoch would not have been possible without the support of the Fine Arts Department, technical, administrative, and care-taking staff of East Campus Hall, the University of Waterloo, our families, and one another. To all of the individuals a part of our epoch; Thank you. We are excited for you to join us in experiencing the contributions of the senior class of 2023.
